It's been a while, but it is the most interesting it's been for months. So:
1. Using one adjective, describe your current living space.
Shared.
Living back on campus is weird: I miss the real-worldness of a house, and the insular nature of living with a set of guys you know everything about.
2. Using two adjectives, describe your current employer.
Huge. Multifocussed.
Working for the university means that you often feel like a tiny cog in a multipurpose machine. But I only work one day a week now, so it's not really a major influence on my life.
3. Using three adjectives, describe your favorite hobby/pastime.
Creative. Visual. Tonal.
I was thinking about this today: whatever the random creative-y thing I'm doing, it usually always involves me working out how things balance, how the words look on paper, on the screen, how the dark balances the light in the photo.
4. Using four adjectives, describe your typical day.
Fluid. Random. Inspiring. Varied.
Part of the reason I came back to uni was that, if I left, I'd miss the sheer unpredictability of life here: the sudden emotional shifts, the spontaneous decisions, the fact that you can wake up at 11am and it doesn't really matter anything at all.
5. Using five adjectives, describe your ideal life.
I refuse to actually /do/ the Friday Five - again with the boring! - but thought I would just post this analysis of my name doing it generated:
Your name of Matthew has created a most expressive nature, idealistic and inspirational, driven with a strong inner urge to be of service in some way that would uplift humanity as a whole. However, there is a tendency to assume too heavy a burden of responsibility for others, which leads to worry and undue concern. People with problems are drawn to you as they recognize you as one who has understanding and gives not only sympathy and comfort but provides also some constructive advice or assistance. You have a generous quality to your nature, but you must guard carefully against giving more than you receive or you will find yourself doing without because you have helped someone else. You love people, family, home, and friends and try to be a parent to the whole human race. While you have generally stable conditions in your personal life, you may experience some problems in business affairs through a tendency to be scattering and inattentive to details.
Ha ha ha ha. I love the way these things never say "Your name of Matthew has generated a most strong desire for you to go around smacking other people's faces in, and to go all black-eyed and evil at points of social stress or a change in the weather". Hee. Anyway, I'm not so sure about the rest of it, but that last sentence made me laugh.
2. If yes, where are you going (high school, college, etc.)? If no, when did you graduate?
Ooh, I can answer both parts of this question! Yes! I am going to Warwick University, Nowhere Near Warwick, United Kingdom. But no! I also graduated this summer. Scary world of further study ahoy!
3. What are/were your favorite school subjects?
Music (we got to chase the squirrels) graphics (we got to design stuff for, like, grades) history (we had the world's most crazyass enthuasiastic teacher). I guess I ought to put "sociology", too, considering I've spent the last three years studying it...
4. What are/were your least favorite school subjects?
Aww, in hindsight I appear to like them all. At the time I'm sure my least favourite ones were hockey, textiles and geography. (Yep, I went to one of those schools).
5. Have you ever had a favorite teacher? Why was he/she a favorite?
Big kudos to my third piano teacher, Mrs O Wonnacott, who got me through my big ol' scary Grade 8 exam. Kudos.
1. What's the last place you traveled to, outside your own home state/country?
It's been much too long - it was the annual sociology cough"academic"cough trip to Lisbon, last year, February 2002.
2. What's the most bizarre/unusual thing that's ever happened to you while traveling?
Actually /whilst/ travelling? Um...the many-day coach trips I've been on, to Prague and Florence respectively, had a few random bits in them, due to the general degree of sleep deprivation and close packing of seemingly hundreds of short-attention spanned adolescents Seldo's right. It's definitely being run over by a push-bike.
3. If you could take off to anywhere, money and time being no object, where would you go?
Canada, New Zealand, Florence.
4. Do you prefer traveling by plane, train or car?
Right now? About 7.20am. Which I'm never, ever gonna get used to, however many months I do it. (And I don't wanna do it for the rest of my life, neither.)
2. Do you sleep in on the weekends? How late?
As late as I wake up - around 11am usually.
3. Aside from waking up, what is the first thing you do in the morning?
Hit my alarm clock with a hammer. Look in the mirror, pulling my eyes down like some kind of comic book character. Then run and shower.
4. How long does it take to get ready for your day?
God, about an hour :)
5. When possible, what is your favorite place to go for breakfast?
In the whole wide world ever? If I was, ahem, "tired and emotional", it'd be Robbins Well in Leamington back when when they were good. Otherwise? My bed seems a pretty good bet...
