Ick
I’m ill. I’m getting some sort of horrible cold, I woke up this morning with that tell tale feeling at the back of my throat which means that I’ll be necking lemsip for days.
Lemsip max strength capsules are joyous little red and yellow pills, under whose influence you feel absolutely awful but strangely cheerful and full of energy at the same time. This strange lemsip high, means that workers every where drag ourselves into work, powered by a distinctly odd chemical cheerfulness, convinced we can struggle through the day, rather than staying at home, eating soup and watching day time telly,as we otherwise would do. Its an evil capitalist plot I tell you! (Did I also mention that taking a bit too much lemsip can make you feel a bit removed from reality ;))
Consuming: herbal tea and chocolate biscuits - that well known cure for the common cold
Wishing: my mum was here to make me hot lemon and honey - her cure for the common cold
Word of the moment: ick

I’ve never understood the British fondness for icky lemon-sipping cold remedies, nor why you’d want the same effect in tablet form.
Try Beecham’s Flu tablets. You just feel better, without getting high or anything.

The real deal, as any Trinidadian would tell you, is Piritin (sp?). It’s like our version of Robitussin.
I also really miss Strepsils, which don’t seem to be available once you leave the Commonwealth. Nothing else can kill a sore throat nearly as effectively.
