Twiddling my thumbs

It’s quite odd this time off lark. With all these free hours in the day, not taken up with fulfilling the bosses every demand, I expected to easily clear my massive to do list which has been building up over months and months. However I’ve now only got two and bit days left of my holiday time (weekends don’t really count) and all I’ve managed to achieve is making myself an optician’s appointment, and I only did that 20mins ago.

I’ve tried sorting out my financial affairs, but that just sunk me into a pit of depression, convinced I was never going to be able to buy anything ever again, never mind pay my rent. The only way to get out of this pit was to eat lots of chocolate orange and watch a double bill of old episodes of ER on More4.

I’ve tried to tentatively start job hunting but even the thought of it scares me. Having spent a good 5 minutes looking at the Guardian’s jobsite and not found the perfect job immediately, I gave up in despair and panic, fearing that I will spend the rest of my days rotting away in local government. To ward off such a fate, I rejected the some might say sensible option, I say p’ah what do they know, of brushing up my CV and instead made plans to go to the pub tomorrow - a good strong g&t will cure everything!

As sorting out my money and my life seemed a bit beyond me, I instead decided to write/e-mail all the people I owe letters/e-mails too, or just those I haven’t heard from in a while, great aunts, family friends, friends who I’ve fallen out of touch with. And what did I do instead? Blogged for you dear readers.

You know what I think I need, a walk to clear my head, maybe a mooch round town, ooh even a trip to the national gallery and come back to all of these tomorrow - I am on holiday after all.

Strangely fascinated by: tube geekery (via Steve)
Mainly eating: salad to counteract the chocolate orange
Listening to: Franz Ferdinand Walk Away

I managed to get the whole of September off last year and still didn’t manage to do a tenth of the things I had planned!

Remember people - procrastination is the thief of time :o)
