28 Days To Go

Christmas is only 28 days away and I’m yet to even start my Christmas shopping. I have friends who will have finished theirs by the beginning of December, if they haven’t already done so, but I just can’t quite bring myself to enter into the Christmas festivities before the start of December, my Christmas spirit comes in limited supplies and with careful rationing can just about get me through December, but only if I don’t start too soon…

Boy’s whole hearted embracing of the Christmas spirit started at the beginning of November and has been met with Scrooge-like resistance on my part. There have been no mince pies bought, no decorations hung, conversations about what I’d like for Christmas have been met with a non-committal response, and the singing of Christmas carols has been met with withering looks. My only allowance for the approaching Christmas season has been to book my train tickets home and the purchasing (and drinking of) a bottle of Baileys - all of which are something of a necessity ;)

But come Thursday all of that will change, from that point on there will be Christmas shopping (y’all better let me know what you want btw), there will be decorations hung, there will be mince pies eaten, there will be Christmas parties to go to and presents given…

I can cope with the enforced jollity, the commercialism, the family, the incessant Christmas songs where ever I go, the eating and drinking too much (well the drinking too much won’t be too much of a change…), but I can only cope with them for the month of December, any earlier start of the Christmas spirit and my supply will have run out by the middle of December, and unfortunately, unlike baileys, I can’t just buy another bottle of the stuff when it runs out ;)

Making: Christmas lists
Watching: A Few Good Men
Listening to: Ash A life less ordinary

You lie! You have been getting Christmassy - unless you’ve decided to avoid the Gingerbread lattes so far this year?

    (I know you too well!)

But Gingerbread lattes fall in the “necessity” section - things that I couldn’t cope without ;)

How are the eggnogg lattes this year?

  3. Clare Says:

Very very good :) Make them a permanent fixture!
